Where is the Honda EV plant located?

Honda Motor Company has announced the location of its new electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing plant in the United States. The Japanese automaker will be building its latest EV facility in Marysville, Ohio, further solidifying the state's position as a hub for electric vehicle production.

The New Honda EV Plant in Marysville, Ohio

The new Honda EV plant will be located in Marysville, Ohio, about 25 miles northwest of Columbus. This site was chosen due to its proximity to Honda's existing vehicle assembly and engine plants in the state, as well as the region's skilled automotive workforce. The plant is expected to begin production in 2026 and will have an initial annual capacity of 300,000 electric vehicles.

Honda has committed to investing $3.5 billion into the new Marysville facility, which will create 2,500 new jobs in the area. The plant will manufacture Honda's next-generation electric vehicles, including models for both the Honda and Acura brands.

Ohio's Growing EV Manufacturing Ecosystem

The decision to locate the new Honda EV plant in Marysville, Ohio, is part of the state's broader push to become a hub for electric vehicle production in the United States. Ohio is already home to several other major EV manufacturing facilities, including the Ford Mustang Mach-E plant in Avon Lake and the Lordstown Motors electric truck plant.

The state government has actively courted automakers and battery suppliers, offering incentives and investing in infrastructure to support the EV industry. Ohio's central location, skilled workforce, and existing automotive manufacturing base make it an attractive destination for electric vehicle production.

Honda's Electrification Strategy

The new Marysville EV plant is a key part of Honda's broader electrification strategy. The company has set a goal of making all of its new vehicle sales in North America zero-emission by 2040. To achieve this, Honda plans to introduce 30 new electric models globally by 2030, with many of those models being produced at the new Ohio facility.

The investment in the Marysville plant demonstrates Honda's commitment to transitioning its lineup to electric power and meeting the growing consumer demand for EVs in the United States.
