Which Honda Fit has VTEC?
The Honda Fit models that feature VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) technology are the second and third generations of the Fit, which were produced from 2007 to 2020.
What is VTEC?
VTEC is an advanced engine technology developed by Honda that allows for improved engine performance and efficiency. It works by automatically adjusting the timing and lift of the engine's valves based on driving conditions, providing a balance between low-end torque and high-end horsepower.
Honda Fit Generations with VTEC
- Second Generation (2007-2013): The second-generation Honda Fit, also known as the Honda Jazz in some markets, was the first Fit model to offer a VTEC-equipped engine. Specifically, the 1.5-liter i-VTEC inline-four engine was available in the Fit.
- Third Generation (2013-2020): The third-generation Honda Fit also featured a VTEC-equipped 1.5-liter inline-four engine, providing a balance of power and efficiency.
The VTEC technology in the Honda Fit allowed for a more responsive and engaging driving experience, with the engine able to deliver increased power at higher RPMs while maintaining good fuel economy in everyday driving.
Non-VTEC Honda Fit Models
The first-generation Honda Fit, produced from 2001 to 2008, did not feature VTEC technology. Instead, it used a standard 1.3-liter or 1.5-liter inline-four engine without the advanced valve timing system.
Additionally, the fourth-generation Honda Fit, introduced in 2020, also does not offer a VTEC-equipped engine. The current Fit model uses a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter inline-four engine without the VTEC system.
