Why is the yellow light on my bolt charger?

The yellow light on your Bolt charger indicates that the charging process is in progress. This is a normal and expected behavior, and it signifies that your electric vehicle is currently being charged.

Understanding the Bolt Charger's Indicator Lights

The Bolt charger typically has three indicator lights: green, yellow, and red. Each light serves a specific purpose in providing information about the charging status:

  • Green light: This indicates that the charging process is complete, and your vehicle's battery is fully charged.

  • Yellow light: This means that the charging process is currently in progress. The yellow light will remain on until the battery is fully charged.

  • Red light: If the red light is illuminated, it could indicate a problem with the charging process, such as a fault or an error. In this case, you should check the charger and the vehicle's electrical system for any issues.

The yellow light on your Bolt charger is a normal and expected indicator, and it signifies that your electric vehicle is actively receiving a charge.

Factors Affecting Charging Time

The duration of the charging process can vary depending on several factors, including:

  • Battery capacity: The larger the battery capacity of your Bolt, the longer it will take to fully charge it.

  • Charging speed: The charging speed of your Bolt charger, which is determined by the power output, will affect the charging time. Faster chargers will charge the battery more quickly.

  • Battery level: The initial battery level of your Bolt will also impact the charging time. A battery that is nearly depleted will take longer to reach a full charge compared to a battery that is already partially charged.

As long as the yellow light is on, you can be assured that your Bolt is actively receiving a charge and that the charging process is progressing as expected.
