Can you still buy a V8 Land Cruiser?

Yes, you can still purchase a V8-powered Toyota Land Cruiser, though the availability and options may vary depending on your location and the specific model year. The Land Cruiser has long been known for its robust, off-road-capable design, and the V8 engine has been a staple of the lineup for many years.

The Toyota Land Cruiser's V8 Engine

The Toyota Land Cruiser has been offered with a variety of engine options over the years, including both V6 and V8 configurations. The V8 engine has been a popular choice among Land Cruiser enthusiasts, as it provides ample power and torque for both on-road and off-road driving. The most recent V8 engine offered in the Land Cruiser was a 5.7-liter unit, which produced 381 horsepower and 401 lb-ft of torque.

Availability of the V8 Land Cruiser

While the V8 Land Cruiser is still available in some markets, its availability has been declining in recent years. In the United States, for example, Toyota discontinued the V8 Land Cruiser after the 2021 model year, citing declining sales and a shift towards more fuel-efficient SUV models. However, the V8 engine is still available in other markets, such as the Middle East and Australia, where the Land Cruiser remains a popular choice for off-road enthusiasts and adventurers.

Alternatives to the V8 Land Cruiser

  • Toyota Sequoia: This large SUV shares many of the same underpinnings as the Land Cruiser and is available with a powerful V8 engine.

  • Toyota Tundra: The Tundra pickup truck is also available with a V8 engine and can be equipped with off-road-focused features.

  • Used Land Cruiser models: If you're set on owning a V8 Land Cruiser, you may be able to find a used model from previous model years.

While the availability of the V8 Land Cruiser may be declining in some markets, there are still options available for those who want a powerful, off-road-capable SUV with a V8 engine. Whether you opt for a new Sequoia or Tundra, or a used Land Cruiser, there are still ways to get your hands on a V8-powered Toyota SUV.
