How do I use Uconnect navigation?

Open the Uconnect navigation on your touchscreen, enter your destination by keyboard or voice, choose a route, and start guidance. You can add stops and use live traffic features if your vehicle supports Uconnect Services.

Getting started with Uconnect Navigation

This section walks you through launching the nav app, selecting a destination, and starting turn-by-turn directions.

  • Power on the vehicle and tap the Navigation (Nav) icon on the touchscreen to open the navigation app.

  • Choose what kind of destination you want: an address, a point of interest (POI), recent destinations, or saved places.

  • Enter the destination using the on-screen keyboard, or use voice input by pressing the steering wheel’s Voice Command button and speaking the address or place.

  • Review route options (Fastest, Shortest, etc.) and adjust preferences if available (tewer: avoid tolls, highways, or ferries).

  • Tap Start or Go to begin turn-by-turn navigation; the system will guide you with spoken directions and on-screen prompts.

As you drive, the map displays your ETA, distance to the next turn, and potential re-routing prompts if conditions change.

Entering a destination

You can input destinations either by typing on the on-screen keyboard or by using voice commands. For faster searches, save common locations like Home or Work and select them directly from saved lists.

  • On-screen keyboard: Tap the destination field, type the address or POI name, then select Search or Go.

  • Voice input: Press the Voice Command button and say a command such as “Navigate to 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View.”

  • Saved locations: Access Home, Work, Recent, or Favorites and select the desired entry.

After you select a result, you’ll be prompted to start navigation or add additional stops to the route.

Route options and multi-stop routing

This section covers how to choose a route and how to add more stops to a single trip.

  • Route preferences: Choose among Fastest, Shortest, or Eco/efficient routing where available.

  • Avoidances: Enable options to avoid tolls, highways, or ferries if your model supports them.

  • Add stops: Use “Add Stop” or “Add Via Point” to insert destinations along the route.

  • Reorder stops: Change the sequence of via points if you want a different itinerary.

  • Preview the route summary, including ETA and total distance, before starting navigation.

With a multi-stop route, the navigation will guide you through each leg and automatically recalculate if you depart from the planned sequence.

Live traffic, road conditions, and connected services

Real-time features depend on your model and subscription status. If enabled, live traffic can help you avoid congestion and delays.

  • Live traffic and incidents: See congested areas and incidents on the map; the system may re-route automatically to reduce delays.

  • Road conditions and alerts: The nav can display road hazards, closures, and construction notices when connected services are active.

  • Search for POIs and local services: Find gas stations, restaurants, and other amenities along or near your route.

Note: Access to live traffic, road condition data, and some remote features may require Uconnect Services or a data connection. Availability varies by year, trim, and market.

Smartphone integration and built-in navigation compatibility

Many newer Uconnect systems support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can choose to use your phone’s maps via CarPlay/Android Auto or rely on the car’s built-in navigation.

  • Built-in navigation: Use the Uconnect maps and search tools directly on the vehicle’s display.

  • Smartphone maps: Connect your phone via CarPlay or Android Auto to access Google/Apple Maps from your phone on the car’s screen.

  • Data considerations: If you rely on live traffic through your phone’s apps, ensure you have a data connection and understand any subscription requirements for the car’s native traffic data.

Model-specific differences apply, so check your owner’s manual or dealer resources for exact features on your SUV, Jeep, RAM, or other Stellantis-branded vehicle.

Troubleshooting and tips

These practical tips can help you get the most out of Uconnect Navigation and troubleshoot common issues.

  • Ensure Uconnect Services are activated if you want live traffic and other connected features; verify subscription status and data connectivity.

  • Keep map data and software up to date through the vehicle’s settings or your dealer’s service, as updates improve routing accuracy.

  • If a destination search returns no results, try synonyms, alternate spellings, or broader categories (e.g., “gas station” instead of a specific name).

If navigation seems unresponsive or incorrect, a system reset or a visit to the dealer may be necessary to verify software integrity and map data.

Summary

Uconnect Navigation offers a straightforward path from launching the app to following guided directions. You can enter destinations by keyboard or voice, create multi-stop itineraries, and customize route preferences. Live traffic and other connected features enhance reliability, but may require a subscription and data connection. Smartphone integration provides flexibility, allowing use of either built-in maps or phone-based navigation depending on your preferences and vehicle capabilities. Always verify model-specific options in your manual and keep your system up to date for the best experience.
