How long does a Mustang take to charge?

The time it takes to charge a Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle (EV) can vary depending on several factors, such as the charging speed, battery size, and the type of charger used. On average, a Mustang Mach-E can be fully charged in about 8 to 10 hours using a Level 2 charger, or in as little as 45 minutes using a high-powered DC fast charger.

Charging Times for the Mustang Mach-E

The Ford Mustang Mach-E is available with two different battery pack sizes: a standard-range battery with a capacity of 68 kWh, and an extended-range battery with a capacity of 88 kWh. The charging time for the Mustang Mach-E will depend on the battery size and the type of charger used.

Level 1 Charging

Level 1 charging, which uses a standard household 120-volt outlet, is the slowest method of charging a Mustang Mach-E. With a Level 1 charger, the Mustang Mach-E can add about 3 to 5 miles of range per hour of charging. This means that a full charge from a Level 1 charger can take up to 24 hours or more, depending on the battery size.

Level 2 Charging

Level 2 charging, which uses a 240-volt outlet, is the most common and convenient way to charge a Mustang Mach-E at home. With a Level 2 charger, the Mustang Mach-E can add about 22 to 32 miles of range per hour of charging. This means that a full charge from a Level 2 charger can take 8 to 10 hours, depending on the battery size.

DC Fast Charging

DC fast charging, also known as Level 3 charging, is the fastest way to charge a Mustang Mach-E. With a DC fast charger, the Mustang Mach-E can add up to 80% of its battery capacity in as little as 45 minutes. However, the charging speed may slow down as the battery approaches full capacity to prevent overheating.

It's important to note that the actual charging time may vary depending on factors such as the ambient temperature, the state of the battery, and the charging station's output capacity. Additionally, Ford recommends that Mustang Mach-E owners use a Level 2 charger at home for the most convenient and efficient charging experience.
