Where is Civic SI manufactured?

The Honda Civic Si, a high-performance variant of the popular Civic compact car, is primarily manufactured at Honda's Alliston, Ontario, Canada production facility. This plant has been the main production site for the Civic Si since the model's introduction in the 1980s.

Civic Si Production in North America

The Honda Civic has been produced in North America since the 1970s, with the Civic Si variant first introduced in 1984. Over the years, the Civic Si has been manufactured at several Honda plants across the United States and Canada, but the Alliston, Ontario facility has been the primary production site for the sporty Civic model.

The Alliston plant, located about 100 kilometers north of Toronto, is one of Honda's largest manufacturing facilities in Canada. In addition to the Civic Si, this plant also produces the standard Civic sedan and coupe models, as well as the CR-V crossover SUV.

Reasons for Alliston Production

  • Proximity to Key Markets: The Alliston plant's location in Ontario allows Honda to efficiently distribute Civic Si models to major markets in Canada and the northeastern United States.

  • Skilled Workforce: The Alliston facility has a long history of Honda production and an experienced, trained workforce capable of building high-performance vehicles like the Civic Si.

  • Existing Infrastructure: The Alliston plant has the necessary equipment, tooling, and production lines already in place to manufacture the Civic Si alongside other Civic variants.

By centralizing Civic Si production at the Alliston facility, Honda can leverage its existing resources and expertise to efficiently produce the high-performance model for North American customers.
