Is the new Bronco a V6 or V8?

No V8 is offered; the Bronco lineup uses turbocharged EcoBoost engines, including a 2.3-liter inline-4, a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, and a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 in the Bronco Raptor.

Current engine options

The Bronco’s factory powertrains today fall into three EcoBoost categories. The following list outlines the available engines and their general performance targets.

  • 2.3-liter EcoBoost inline-4: turbocharged four-cylinder, delivering around 300 horsepower and in the mid-300s pound-feet of torque.

  • 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6: turbocharged six-cylinder, producing roughly 330 horsepower and about 415 pound-feet of torque.

  • 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 (Bronco Raptor): turbocharged high-performance six-cylinder, rated near 418 horsepower and around 440 pound-feet of torque.

In short, you can choose from a turbocharged four-cylinder, a turbocharged V6, or the high-output V6 in the Raptor. There is no factory V8 option in the current Bronco lineup.

Why there is no V8

Ford has prioritized EcoBoost powertrains to balance capability, efficiency, and off-road packaging. The Bronco Raptor amplifies performance with a larger V6, while the standard models offer compact efficiency or strong mid-range torque without a V8 engine. If a V8 is a must-have, it is not offered from the factory in the Bronco lineup as of the latest model years.

What this means for buyers

Prospective buyers should decide between the base two options (2.3L I-4 or 2.7L V6) for everyday capability and efficiency, or opt for the Bronco Raptor’s 3.0L V6 for extreme off-road performance. The absence of a V8 means buyers seeking that engine note or torque profile would need to consider other Ford vehicles or aftermarket paths, which are not part of the official Bronco package.

Summary

The current Ford Bronco lineup does not include a V8. It uses EcoBoost engines: a 2.3L I-4 or a 2.7L V6 for most models, and a 3.0L V6 in the Bronco Raptor for high-performance off-roading. This reflects Ford’s emphasis on turbocharged efficiency and off-road versatility rather than a traditional V8 option.
