Is there going to be a 2024 Dodge Dakota?

As of February 2025, there are no plans for Dodge to release a new Dodge Dakota model in 2024 or any other year. The Dodge Dakota, a midsize pickup truck, was last produced in 2011 and has since been discontinued. Dodge's current midsize truck offering is the Jeep Gladiator, which was introduced in 2018 and continues to be sold.

Dodge Dakota Production History

The Dodge Dakota was first introduced in 1986 and was produced for over two decades until its discontinuation in 2011. It was one of the first midsize pickup trucks on the market, slotting in between the full-size Ram and compact trucks. The Dakota went through several generations of redesigns and updates over the years, but ultimately could not keep up with the growing popularity of larger, more capable full-size trucks.

Jeep Gladiator Fills the Midsize Truck Gap

When Dodge discontinued the Dakota, it left a void in the automaker's truck lineup. This gap was filled in 2018 with the introduction of the Jeep Gladiator, a midsize pickup truck based on the Jeep Wrangler platform. The Gladiator has been well-received, offering off-road capability and the iconic Jeep styling that appeals to many truck buyers.

No Plans for a New Dodge Dakota

Despite some speculation and rumors, Dodge has not announced any plans to revive the Dakota nameplate. The automaker's focus appears to be on its core muscle car and SUV models, as well as the Jeep Gladiator for the midsize truck segment. Without any official announcements or indications from Dodge, it is unlikely that a new Dodge Dakota will be introduced in the foreseeable future.

In summary, while the Dodge Dakota was a popular midsize truck in the past, it is no longer in production, and Dodge has not indicated any plans to bring it back. The Jeep Gladiator currently serves as Dodge's midsize truck offering in the market.
