Where is the gas funnel on a Honda Passport?

The gas filler is on the driver's side (left) of the vehicle, toward the rear behind the small fuel-door panel.

This article explains exactly where to locate the fuel door, how to open it, and what to do if you can’t find or access it. It covers typical locations for US-market Passports and practical steps for refueling.

Location of the fuel door

For most Honda Passport models sold in the United States since 2019, the fuel filler sits on the left side of the vehicle, near the rear quarter panel. The door is a small panel integrated into the rear-left area of the vehicle.

How to open the fuel door

Inside the cabin, there is typically a release to pop the fuel door open. This release is usually located on the lower left side of the driver's footwell, either as a lever or a small switch. Some models may use a touch latch on the fuel door itself or a dash control; in all cases the door should pop or unlatch when the release is activated. After releasing, go to the outside, press/pull the door to open it fully, and remove the cap if needed to refuel.

Before you refuel, here are the practical steps to locate and access the filler in a typical Passport:

  1. Park on level ground, apply the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

  2. Look to the rear-left side of the vehicle for the fuel door on the outer panel near the rear wheel well.

  3. Use the interior release on the lower left dash/kick panel (or the door’s own latch) to pop the fuel door open.

  4. Open the fuel door, refuel with the appropriate gasoline, reinsert the cap (if applicable), and close the door until it latches.

If you can’t locate or open the door, consult the owner’s manual or contact a Honda dealer. While the left-side fuel door is standard for most US-market Passports, there can be minor year-to-year variations in the exact mechanism or release location.

Notes by model year

Since the 2019 redesign, Honda Passport models in the U.S. typically place the filler on the driver’s side (left). If you’re outside the United States or have a very early or special edition model, verify with the manual or dealer guidance for your specific vehicle.

Summary

In short, the Honda Passport’s gas filler is on the driver’s side near the rear of the vehicle. Use the interior release on the lower left dash/kick panel (or the door’s latch) to pop the fuel door, then refuel and close it securely.
