Does the Dodge Grand Caravan have GPS?

The Dodge Grand Caravan can have built-in GPS navigation, but only on select years and trims that were equipped with the Uconnect navigation system. Many lower-trim models did not include factory GPS. Since the model was discontinued after 2020, Dodge no longer offers factory navigation as a new feature; today, navigation is usually provided by aftermarket systems or smartphone apps.

GPS availability by year and trim

Availability depended on the infotainment package and trim level. Factory navigation was offered when the Grand Caravan was equipped with the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen and the NAV option; it was not standard on base configurations.

Trims and packages commonly equipped with NAV

  • Available on higher trims when the 8.4-inch Uconnect NAV package was installed (roughly 2013–2019).

  • Not available on base models with smaller displays or older Uconnect technology (pre-8.4-inch systems).

  • Some late-model 2020 Grand Caravans could include NAV when equipped with the Uconnect NAV option; availability varied by market and dealer.

Bottom line: if your Grand Caravan is not the NAV-equipped variant, it did not come with built-in GPS.

How to identify if your Grand Caravan has GPS

To confirm, inspect the dashboard display and the vehicle’s documentation. Look for:

What to look for

  • An 8.4-inch Uconnect display with NAV or a navigation icon in the menu.

  • Window sticker or owner’s manual showing “NAV” or “Uconnect NAV” as a feature.

  • Model year and trim known to offer NAV (check the details above for guidance).

If you don’t see NAV, your unit probably does not have built-in GPS.

Alternative navigation options

Even without built-in GPS, there are several reliable ways to get directions in a Grand Caravan:

  • Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility on some Uconnect versions, enabling smartphone navigation on the dashboard screen when available.

  • Smartphone navigation via Bluetooth or USB connection to the car’s audio system; use apps like Google Maps or Waze.

  • Aftermarket GPS/navigation head unit designed to fit the dash and connect to the vehicle’s electrical system and speakers.

For many buyers, a smartphone-based setup offers the most up-to-date maps and traffic data, regardless of the Grand Caravan’s original equipment.

Summary

The Dodge Grand Caravan did offer built-in GPS in certain configurations, particularly on higher trims with the 8.4-inch Uconnect NAV system. It was not a universal feature across all model years, and the line was discontinued after 2020. If you own a Grand Caravan without NAV, you can still navigate using smartphone apps, CarPlay/Android Auto (where supported), or an aftermarket navigation head unit.
