What chargers can the Ford Lightning use?
The Ford Lightning, an all-electric pickup truck, offers a range of charging options to meet the needs of its owners. From standard household outlets to high-powered charging stations, the Lightning can be charged using a variety of chargers, providing flexibility and convenience for drivers.
Charging at Home
The Ford Lightning comes equipped with a standard Level 1 charger, which allows the vehicle to be plugged into a regular 120-volt household outlet. This type of charging is suitable for overnight charging, providing around 3 to 5 miles of range per hour of charging. For faster home charging, the Lightning can be paired with a Level 2 charger, which uses a 240-volt outlet and can add up to 25 miles of range per hour of charging.
Public Charging Stations
The Ford Lightning is compatible with a wide range of public charging stations, including Level 2 and DC fast charging (DCFC) options. Level 2 charging stations, commonly found in public places like shopping malls and workplaces, can add up to 25 miles of range per hour of charging. DC fast charging stations, on the other hand, can provide up to 150 miles of range in just 15 minutes of charging, making them ideal for longer road trips or quick top-ups.
Charging at Ford Dealerships
Ford has also installed high-powered charging stations at many of its dealerships, specifically designed to work with the Ford Lightning. These charging stations can provide up to 150 kW of power, allowing the Lightning to charge from 15% to 80% in as little as 41 minutes.
