What is Toyota Racing called?

Toyota Racing is the motorsports division of the Toyota Motor Corporation, one of the world's largest automakers. Established in the 1950s, Toyota Racing has become a dominant force in various racing disciplines, from Formula One to the World Endurance Championship and beyond.

The Origins of Toyota Racing

Toyota's foray into motorsports began in the 1950s, when the company's founder, Kiichiro Toyoda, recognized the importance of racing as a way to showcase the company's engineering prowess and build brand awareness. The first Toyota-powered race car, the Toyota Toyopet, made its debut in 1957, competing in the Japanese Grand Prix.

Over the decades, Toyota Racing has evolved and expanded its reach, competing in a wide range of racing series around the world. From the iconic Toyota Supra in the 1980s to the cutting-edge Toyota TS050 Hybrid in the World Endurance Championship, the company's racing efforts have been marked by a relentless pursuit of innovation and performance.

Toyota's Motorsports Achievements

Toyota Racing has achieved numerous successes over the years, including:

  • Multiple victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, one of the most prestigious endurance races in the world.

  • Winning the World Endurance Championship manufacturers' title multiple times, most recently in 2021.

  • Dominating the World Rally Championship, with Toyota Gazoo Racing claiming multiple drivers' and manufacturers' titles.

  • Competing in the Formula One World Championship, with the Toyota F1 team achieving several podium finishes and points-scoring results.

These achievements have not only bolstered Toyota's reputation as a leading automotive manufacturer but have also served as a testbed for the company's cutting-edge technologies, which are then incorporated into its production vehicles.

The Future of Toyota Racing

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, with a greater emphasis on sustainability and electrification, Toyota Racing is adapting its motorsports strategy to stay at the forefront of innovation. The company's commitment to hybrid and electric technologies is evident in its participation in the World Endurance Championship, where it has been a pioneer in the development of hybrid race cars.

Looking ahead, Toyota Racing is poised to continue its legacy of excellence, pushing the boundaries of performance and technology in the ever-changing world of motorsports.
